[45:17]  1 tn Heb “Israel will be delivered by the Lord [with] a permanent deliverance.”

[45:17]  2 tn Heb “you will not be ashamed and you will not be humiliated for ages of future time.”

[54:4]  3 tn Or “embarrassed”; NASB “humiliated…disgraced.”

[54:4]  4 tn Another option is to translate, “the disgrace of our widowhood” (so NRSV). However, the following context (vv. 6-7) refers to Zion’s husband, the Lord, abandoning her, not dying. This suggests that an אַלְמָנָה (’almanah) was a woman who had lost her husband, whether by death or abandonment.

[61:7]  5 tn Heb “instead of your shame, a double portion.”

[61:7]  6 tn Heb “and [instead of] humiliation they will rejoice [over] their portion.” The term תָחָת (takhat, “instead of”) is understood by ellipsis (note the preceding line).

[61:7]  7 tn Heb “therefore” (so KJV, NASB); NIV “and so.”

[65:14]  8 tn Heb “from the good of the heart.”

[65:14]  9 tn Heb “from the pain of the heart.”

[65:14]  10 tn Heb “from the breaking of the spirit.”
